Firingsquad heeft een Q&A'tje gepost met Chris Pate van Logitech, met de vraag of Logitech van plan is om (in navolging van Microsoft met de IntelliEye) een optische muis op de markt te zetten:
Q: When is Logitech planning to bring out an optical mouse?A: We do not discuss unannounced products. We have been working with optical technology for over 8 years and we will continue to do so. We use optical technology in our current mice (opto-mechanical ball rollers and scroll wheel) and we use the optical Marble technology in our Marble trackballs
Q: Why is it taking so long for Logitech to get a ball-less mouse on the market?
A: We bring products to the market when we believe that consumers will see a benefit from them. We invest heavily in developing pointing devices which will give the user the best possible experience in terms of usability, price-performance, comfort and reliability.
Q: Why has Logitech allowed Microsoft to be first to market with a solid state optical mouse?
A: We pride ourselves in being innovators in the PC perhipheral business, bringing customer valued benefits to our products. Based on market research that we have conducted over the years, we have chosen to focus on the most valued benefits in the pointing device line, namely, cordless-ness, comfort and reliability Customers tell us this is more important.
