Microsoft has uploaded Windows 2000 Interim Build 2099 to their beta site in preparation for release. With Release Candidate 2 slated to launch in September, this release is a good sign that Microsoft will hit their target. After Windows 2000 Release Candidate 2 is released in September, Microsoft is expected to squash any last minute bugs and ship out Release Candidate 3 to top beta testers and OEMs in early October. Microsoft plans to hit RTM (Release to Manufacturing) in late October, although this date has been shifted a few times and could very well be pushed back even further. Shortly after RTM, tools from Comet will emerge for the newly released OS, as well as other applications from well known companies such as Novell. The fourth and final version of Windows 2000 known as Datacenter Server, which has enjoyed a separate beta program, will finish testing in the coming months after RTM
