Toshiba heeft de SD-R1002 aangekondigd. Dit is een gewone CD-Rewriter maar met de mogelijkheid om DVD's te lezen. Hij zal vanaf september leverbaar worden.
Toshiba announced today the SD-R1002 drive, the first CD-RW drive with DVD-ROM readability. The new drive combines the technology found in CD-RW and DVD drives to insure compatibility, along with an ATAPI interface for easy installation. The drive features a 4X write speed for CD-R and CD-RW, full 24X speed for CD-ROM playback and 4X speed for DVD-ROM. Pricing for the individual drive has not yet been set but will start shipping in September. Also, the SD-R1002 will be available as part of a kit which will include supporting hardware and software in October for around $400.
