Meer Intel / Celeron SMP sloperij info

Ik kwam bij BXBoards nog wat info tegen over de plannen van Intel om de Celeron zodanig te verminken dat-ie geen SMP meer kan doen. Dit zegt Andy er over:

Nevertheless, the straw that broke the camels back in this case seems to be the new Abit Dual Celeron board, the BP6. With a board now available that directly supports dual Celeron operation, it is hard for Intel to point to one of their major marketing claims for the Pentium II/III line, as clearly one of the major advantages is only very thinnly hidden in the Celeron line. As I understand it, the forthcoming Celeron 500, will be dual crippled from the world go, with this modification applied to newer Celeron's as well. This will require only a small change in Intels' FAB's - just disconnect pin AN15 (to which soldering is required for Slot1 modifications), and the chip is no longer dual capable
