Yep, weer een nieuw MP3 playertje:
SAN DIEGO, June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- A new portable MP3 player, designed to play back music and other audio content downloaded from the Internet, will be introduced by I-Jam Multimedia Corporation at the MP3.com Summit which opens here tomorrow. The I-Jam(TM) portable MP3 player, which can also play back music recorded from compact discs, is the smallest such product on the market -- three inches high and less than two inches wide -- and fits easily in the palm of the hand. The player, which will be available in a variety of colors, has a compact design that makes it easy to hold and operate and can be conveniently clipped onto a belt or worn around the neck or arm.
Audio playback is achieved by a postage-stamp-sized MultiMediaCard, a new memory technology from SanDisk Corporation. The MultiMediaCards can store up to 32 MB of information or about one hour of CD-quality audio programs. One 32-MB MultiMediaCard will be included with the I-Jam player and others will be available separately.
``The I-Jam player is the result of combining advanced technology with our vision of the future of digital audio products,'' said Doug Marrison, President, I-Jam Multimedia Corporation. ``It's small and simple to use, but it also provides high-quality sound for users who want to add portability to playback of their Internet or CD music collections.''
Through use of an accessory called Jam Station(TM), the MultiMediaCard records audio content in a manner similar to a cassette tape. The Jam Station, which downloads music onto a MultiMediaCard in less than 60 seconds, will be available in parallel and USB interface modes for use with Windows 98 or Mac formats. Future applications for the MultiMediaCard include the storage of video or other digital data.
The MultiMediaCards contain proprietary technology compatible with the Strategic Digital Music Initiative (SDMI). Formed by major record labels under the auspices of the Recording Industry Association of America, SDMI is developing a new technology standard for secure downloading of audio and other information from the Internet.
