Nintendo gaat samen met IBM een nieuwe spelcomputer maken...
In a $1 billion agreement, Nintendo has called on IBM to create a custom 400 MHz CPU using its .18 micron copper technology. The chip, which is an extension of the PowerPC architecture, has been dubbed the “Gekko” processor, and is far enough along in development for Nintendo to commit to a late 2000 launch date for the Dolphin system. Dolphin will be a complete multimedia center, capable of playing DVDs and CDs, as well as hooking up to the Internet.
