Hmm...veel Valve/Team Fortress info vandaag. CGO doet gezellig mee met een preview van Team Fortress 2. TF2 heeft een aantal originele multiplayer aspecten, bijvoorbeeld de voice communications:
One exciting addition is the new voice communication. The "commander" of each team views the entire map in real time from the top down (they rip off the ceilings), and can watch the action unfold from a bird's-eye view. But he can also click on a character and actually give him spoken orders with real speech, such as "that sniper around the corner is one of our spies, don't kill him." There will be limits on how much each team member can talk to others, so they don't have a situation where an entire team of 16 player are all yelling and screaming, and nobody can hear anything. When players in the world talk via the speech function, their mouths will even move in synch with what they're saying. They were demonstrating this on the show floor, and it works so well it's scary. Whether or not they'll ship with a microphone or not hasn't been determined. This voice technology shouldn't bog down the game, though…it only takes about 2400 bits per second.
