“ATI is excited about its election as a permanent member of the board, after joining the group as an auxiliary member in October 1999. ATI has long been committed to the OpenGL API as it provides the interface that allows our users to benefit tremendously from their ATI graphics acceleration products,” said Rick Bergman, Senior Vice President of Marketing and General Manager, Desktop Group, ATI Technologies Inc. “We are honored to be selected for permanent membership, which will allow us to work even more closely with the OpenGL community.”
ATI began developing hardware and software products that support OpenGL (developed by SGI) in 1995. The entire RADEON™ family of products has been designed to have robust support for OpenGL, including the latest generation of RADEON™ 8500 and 7500, as well as the multimedia powerhouse combination graphics and TV-tuner ALL-IN-WONDER® RADEON™ 8500DV. Currently, ATI is working with the OpenGL industry leaders to adopt a common interface for the programmable shading architectures of today and the future.
