I feel comfortable in saying the using a VapoChill can very easily give you a nice performance boost that you are not going to see with most commercial cooling rigs. Then again, most commercial cooling rigs don't cost US$750. Yeah, I know, that is a lot of money. The price surely moves the VapoChill out of the reach of many PC Enthusiasts. One thing that the VapoChill has going for it this time around is compatibility and longevity. When the first VapoChills made it to the States they were decked out for Slot 1 and Slot A platforms and at that time we already knew that those two formats were going by the wayside. This time it is a lot different. We know Intel is about to turn loose some very highly clocked CPUs and they are going to be in the S478 package so it is possible that you could see a 3GHz Pentium 4 CPU in your VapoChill unit OCed to who knows what clocks speeds one day. The VapoChill also currently has kits that will adapt it to Socket 370 and Socket A easily.
While the up front cost might seem extreme, it is possible that this VapoChill might be with your many upgrades down the road. Now I am not going to sit here and argue that you should buy a US$750 cooling system. This is simply unthinkable for many of us, but the VapoChill was never meant to meet the budget needs of everyone in our niche market. In fact, there is no doubt that the VapoChill buyer is a niche market inside our already small community. If money is not a major concern or you plan on keeping it in use for a long time, then the VapoChill can certainly be an great option for the hardware junkie. We have used VapoChill units off and on for years now and we have yet to experience a mechanical or electrical failure so it seems to us that they are put together very well.
