The world's leading motherboard manufacturer, ASUS, today announced the release of the A7V266 Socket A DDR motherboard. The A7V266 incorporates the VIA KT266 chipset to support AMD Athlon/Duron processors up to 1.4GHz and beyond, as well as high-bandwidth DDR (double data rate) memory. The result is a Socket A motherboard that delivers enhanced performance necessary for today's demanding games and applications. The A7V266 is designed for performance. Taking advantage of KT266 chipset's advanced V-Link memory controller architecture, the A7V266 motherboard maximizes the performance of up to 3GB high-speed DDR200/266 SDRAM at a peak bandwidth of 2.1GB per second. DDR SDRAM is the latest memory standard that enables 266MHz bus speeds compared to 133MHz bus speeds of conventional PC133 SDRAM.
Comprehensive overclocking options unlock the potential of AMD processors. DIP switches and ASUS JumperFreeTM mode allow users to adjust overclocking settings either manually or from the convenience of the BIOS screen. 1MHz incremental settings push system-bus settings over 200MHz, while CPU voltage adjustments in 0.05V intervals over default provide additional performance options.
