OC Workbench is de eerste site die een KD266 moederbord van Iwill heeft weten te bemachtigen. Dit plankje is voorzien van de ALi M1649 chipset, een nieuwkomer met features die ongeveer gelijk zijn aan die van de VIA KT133A chipset; Socket A, 133MHz FSB en SDRAM. Verder heeft het plankje zes PCI slots, AGP en drie DIMM plaatsen. In het BIOS vinden we genoeg opties voor overklokkers terug waaronder VCore, VIO en 1MHz FSB stapjes tot 180MHz. De gebruikte Duron 600 wilden nog posten op 175MHz en was tot 166MHz stabiel. Het bord bleek enigzins tegen de verwachting in sneller te zijn dan de KK266R met KT133 chipset. Tegen de KT133A chipset kon hij echter niet opboksen:
In fact, I was quite surprised that Iwill KD266 surpasses even it's own KK266R in most of the tests. While most of the users are skeptical about the ALi chipset, I think it's unfounded. They have proven themselves early this year when they launched their DDR chipset and now we have seen the Iwill KD266, it looks like ALi boards are definitely a good option in terms of price and performance.
Iwill KD266 - a simple yet overclockers' dream board. The board does miss out some of the new functionalities that are mostly found on most boards nowadays e.g. on board audio chip, Diagnostic LED, no dual bios which definitely helps to keep the costs down. It would be good to see a KD266R with all these functions on board.
