Got Apex? heeft een review gebakken van de Asus V7100 Deluxe Combo videokaart annex TV-tuner. Deze kaart is voorzien van een GeForce 2MX chip en 32MB/6nS SDR-geheugen, waarbij de core draait op 175MHz en het geheugen op 166MHz.
Daarnaast is de Asus V7100 Combo voorzien van een kabel-tv aansluiting, video-ingang, televisie-uitgang, aansluiting voor een VR-brilletje (dat tot de standaarduitrusting behoort) en natuurlijk de VGA-uitgang. Oók een kleine breakout-box met alle noodzakelijke aansluitingen voor een videocamera behoort tot de standaarduitrusting, en dat scheelt weer een hoop grabbelwerk achter je computer als je eens wat aan te sluiten hebt. Asus levert een behoorlijk pakket software mee, dus het maken van eigen video-opnames, het kijken van je favoriete soap en zelfs het inzetten van je PC samen met een bewakingscamera is geen enkel probleem, waarbij alles bovendien ook stabiel blijkt te lopen. Tenslotte blijkt de Asus prima te functioneren in combinatie met een DVD-drive, dus het 'multimediale' gedeelte is méér dan voldoende gedekt door deze kaart.
De benchmarks laten zien dat de V7100 Combo zich kan meten met andere GeForce2 MX-kaarten. De toegevoegde waarde van deze kaart zit 'm dus niet in de prestaties maar in de extra mogelijkheden die je er mee hebt. Al met al is de reviewer méér dan gelukkig met de V7100 Deluxe Combo, en dat brengt hem dan ook tot de volgende conclusies:
The Asus V7100 Deluxe Combo offers an outstanding software bundle and a whole new array of features not natively found on GeForce2 MX cards. It would have been nice to see Asus include a push-on coaxial cable, but they do outfit the package with all of the other necessary cables.
Perhaps if Asus also opted to use 64MB of DDR instead of the 32MB of SDR we would be more inclined to suggest this product to even the hardcore gamer. Sure, the V7100 is no slouch in gaming, but there is always room for improvement, especially with the price of DDR dropping the way it is. The short of it is that this card is well suited for the casual gamer who enjoys dabbling in video editing and would like the option to be able to watch TV while working on their desktop.
Our advice to you would be that if you are in the market for an MX-based card, or need a card capable of more than just gaming, then the V7100 Deluxe Combo is the only way to go.
