Sony heeft twee verse modellen met de nieuwe mobile PIII-850 processor aan de Vaio F en Vaio XG notebook series toegevoegd. De PCG-XG39 is hierbij voorzien van een S3 Savage/MX videochip en een 14,1" TFT display met een resolutie van 1024*768px. Voor wie hier geen genoegen mee neemt heeft Sony de PG-F690, die wordt geleverd met een ATi Rage Mobility videochip en een 15" SXGA LCD scherm. Deze display heeft een erg heftige resolutie van 1400 bij 1050 pixels. Dit maakt 'm volgens Sony uitermate geschikt voor video-editing. The new unit's all-in-one design features a floppy drive, hard drive and DVD-ROM drive.
