Betanews heeft wat info over Win98 OSR2. De beta's gaan inmiddels richting beta testers. Er zitten wat nieuwe dingen in, o.a. Mikroschoft Internet Imploder 5.0, voor mensen die de behoefte voelen om Bill's monopolie verder te versterken:
Internet Explorer 5 is the latest in browser technology from Microsoft. It is scheduled for public release on March 18th. IE 5 adds new features such as IntelliSense technology, giving you incredible autocomplete control. The IE 5 team has also added a bunch of new things since the last public release, including Hotmail access directly from Outlook Express, new FTP access through the 'Favorites' menu, along with a new 'Web View' for FTP sites. Due to a court order forcing the removal of IE 5 Beta 2 for download, recent builds of Outlook Express no longer have the 'Junk Mail Filter.' Microsoft has also updated their Java Virual Machine to comply with the court order forced by Sun Microsystems.
