Maxtor heeft gisteren de MaxAttach NAS 4000 aangekondigd, een NAS server (Network Attached Storage, het nieuwe toverwoord in netwerk-land) met een capaciteit van 320GB. Deze ruime hoeveelheid storage space wist men te verpakken in een superlaag 1U 19" rack. Het apparaat heeft een richtprijs van 4499 dollar en maakt gebruik van goedkope IDE drives, die voor extra snelheid of betrouwbaarheid in RAID0 of RAID1 geconfigureerd kunnen worden. Verder beschikt de MaxAttach over een 10/100Mbit NIC en twee redundant power supplies:
