Iomega Corporation today announced shipment of its newly-designed two-gigabyte Jaz(R) drive. This is the first redesign of Iomega's Jaz external 2GB drive, which began shipping in December 1998. The new design gives the Jaz drive a sleeker exterior and stackable design, which can help users maximize valuable desk space. The Jaz drive is compatible with Windows(R) 95/98/NT 4.0 and 2000, as well as Mac OS 8.1 through 9.x.
Iomega's redesign of its Jaz(R) 2GB drive is another step the company has taken in an initiative to expand the functionality of the Jaz platform. In April, Iomega began shipping its Jaz USB adapter and also announced its intention to develop and ship a FireWire(R) adapter for its Jaz drive. Iomega's adapters provide users of current products an easy and inexpensive connectivity enhancement option, and allow Iomega to accommodate its large installed base. "Our efforts in redesigning the Jaz drive highlight our overall long-term commitment to high-capacity, high-speed removable storage products," said Mark Lucas, executive vice president, global marketing and product management, Iomega Corporation.
