The obvious reason for getting this kit would be to overclock. Good thing for that because this kit really opens the door for overclocking. Always keep in mind that various videocards and the RAM that is equipped on the videocard will have a direct influence on the overclocking result. The Matrox G400 Millennium 32MB was tested for overclockability using this kit. The card uses four RAM pieces, and the pieces connect through the back of the card, so a heatsink was applied to both sides of the card. The heatsink was cleaned with rubbing alcohol and so was the base of the G400 chipset before application of the tape and heatsink. With the stock heatsink/fan, the card would run quite hot, even at stock 125MHz Core/166MHz Memory operation. Overclocking beyond 135MHz Core/180MHz Memory was out of the question. With the heatsinks, the new speed of 148.5MHz Core/198MHz Memory was rock stable and improved performance significantly. Anything beyond that setting would produce garbled game screens and distorted graphics. Even at this highest setting, the heatsink on the chipset was cool to the touch and the RAM heatsinks were doing a good job of absorbing the heat from the RAM, as these pieces were warm when felt.
