Software-update: Mozilla Firefox 2 alpha 3

Zojuist is op de site van Mozilla de derde alphaversie van Firefox 2 verschenen. De nieuwe testversie is vanaf deze ftp-locatie te downloaden voor Linux, Mac OS X en Windows. Firefox 2, ook wel 'Bon Echo' genoemd, is een cross platform open-sourcebrowser voor het internet en bevat een aantal nieuwe features en verbeteringen ten opzichte van de huidige Firefox 1-reeks. Zo heeft bijvoorbeeld elke tab een aparte sluitknop. Daarnaast hebben de ontwikkelaars de ondersteuning van extensions verbeterd en is deze development milestone uitgevoerd met Googles Safe Browsing-uitbreiding, die bescherming moet bieden tegen phisingsites. Ook zit in alpha 3 de feature client-side session and persistent storage en zijn de bookmarks voorzien van microsummaries. In de release notes staat het volledige changelog, dat als volgt uitziet:

There is a lot in Bon Echo Alpha 3 that we need you to play with and give us feedback on:

• Built in Anti-Phishing protection.
• Search suggestions now appear with search history in the search box for Google and Yahoo!
• Support for client-side session and persistent storage.
