Het programma eDonkey2000 is een p2p-uitwisselingsprogramma dat standaard gebruik maakt van het Overnet-protocol, daarnaast zijn er door middel van plug-in's vele andere protocollen beschikbaar. De ontwikkelaars hebben versie 1.2 voor het Windows-platform de deur uitgedaan. De pagina met het changelog is op het moment van schrijven nog niet bijgewerkt maar we kunnen wel melden dat de communicatie met de eDonkey-servers is verbeterd en er is een nieuwe feature toegevoegd onder de naam Catalog. Deze laatste wordt als volgt beschreven:
Awesome new feature! Catalogs. Catalogs allow you to browse through verified files without the fear that you are downloading the wrong thing. Publishers can create catalogs of their content and publish it on the donkey network. Catalogs are just normal web pages that have been digitally signed by the publisher to assure authenticity. Users can now browse these catalogs safe in the knowledge that they are downloading the correct files. You can now easily publish content on the donkey network without a webserver. And no more hassle of websites going down. Everything is right inside the donkey.
