LCD Smartie is een stuk gecompileerde open-sourcecode dat in staat is om diverse soorten informatie weer te geven op een LCD- of VFD-scherm in Windows. Zo is het bijvoorbeeld mogelijk om onder andere temperaturen, voltages, fan- en cpu-snelheden, disk usage, headlines van RSS-feeds en e-maildata op het scherm te tonen. De nieuwste versie van LCD Smartie is de derde release candidate van de 5.3-tak (door de ontwikkelaars ook wel de final genoemd van 5.3) en is via deze pagina vanaf verschillende mirrorserver te downloaden. Hieronder zijn de veranderingen gepost van deze release, evenals de schermen die ondersteund worden door LCD Smartie:

- Fixed possible problem in error reporting.
- Added missing actions/commands to UI.
- Allow easier editing of actions.
- Double clicking a command title, inserts the command.
- Add some more default RSS feeds.
- Fixed Div by Zero bug that could happen on screen 'interactions'.
- Correcly parse when last parameter of command is empty.
Currently supported sizes (can add more if required):
- All serial/usb Crystalfontz displays.
- All serial/usb Matrix Orbital displays.
- All parallel connected LCD's with a HD44780 compatible controller and with 8bit wiring (using this wiring).
- Most serial/usb/BT/IR PalmOS devices (when used with PalmOrb) [USB support is experimental]
