De Mozilla Foundation heeft versie 148.0 van Thunderbird uitgebracht. Thunderbird is een opensourceclient voor e-mail en nieuwsgroepen met ondersteuning voor verschillende mail- en newsaccounts. Verder zijn er een spamfilter, spellingscontrole, kalender en adresboek, en heeft het een aanpasbaar uiterlijk. Thunderbird is beschikbaar in twee verschillende versies, die beide als stabiel worden aangeduid. De eerste wordt vaker voorzien van nieuwe functionaliteit en wordt als Release-versie aangeboden; de andere, de Extra Support Release-versie, wordt alleen van bugfixes en stabiliteitsverbeteringen voorzien.
