Op het forum van de webbrowser Opera is de eerste technical preview van Opera 7.60 gepubliceerd. Deze release is alleen bedoeld voor Windows Mobile en Smartphone 2003, en kan vanaf deze locatie gedownload worden. Technical Preview 1 is de eerste Opera-uitvoering voor Windows-telefoons die voor het grote publiek wordt uitgebracht. Begin vorige maand heeft het bedrijf aangekondigd om te werken aan een versie voor mobiele telefoons die Windows draaien. Deze bètaversie werkt tot en met 31 december 2004 en neemt ongeveer 4MB geheugen in beslag. De release notes van 7.60 TB1 laten het volgende weten:
SecurityStability
- Root certificates and client-side certificates are not supported
- HTTP-authentication is not supported
- SSL/TLS is supported, but there is no visual indication to the user (padlock icon or similar)
- There is no URL-field in the UI or other way to check the current URL
- After deleting History, it is still possible to walk "back" to previous URL's. Exit Opera to remove all traces of history.
User interface
- The browser will crash when clicking on links with "target="

- Few dialogs and alerts have been implemented
- Pop-ups not supported
- No bookmarks functionality
- Link navigation in "Fit-to-Screen" disabled mode is barely usable
