Software-update: Foxit PDF Reader 2025.2.0

Foxit Software heeft versie 2025.2.0 van Foxit PDF Reader uitgebracht, een alternatief voor Adobe Reader. Met dit gratis programma kunnen pdf-documenten bekeken, ingevuld en ondertekend worden. Voor het bewerken van pdf-documenten heeft Foxit Software het betaalde Foxit PDF Editor (voorheen PhantomPDF) in huis, vergelijkbaar met Acrobat Pro DC. Gebruik je de interne updatefunctie, vergeet dan niet het vinkje weg te halen voor het downloaden en installeren van PDF Editor.

In deze uitgave is onder meer een 64bit-versie toegevoegd. Om die te kunnen gebruiken moet de oude 32bit-versie eerst worden verwijderd, wat kan met behoud van instellingen, voordat de nieuwe versie kan worden geïnstalleerd. De volledige changelog ziet er als volgt uit:

• Provide a native 64-bit version of the application to enhance the performance on 64-bit systems.
• Provide support for Microsoft’s Double Key Encryption (DKE), which protects highly sensitive data by using two encryption keys—one controlled by the user and another stored securely in Microsoft Azure (MSI package only).
• Enable admins to use deployment tools to configure a shared location for stamp templates across the organization.
• Compatible with USB writing pads for users to add handwritten signatures as stamps in PDFs conveniently.

Ooit was ik ook een Foxit gebruiker... maar dat is ook gigantisch bloated geworden de laatste jaren.

Nu zweer ik ook bij Sumatra.... dat ding doet gewoon wat het moet doen (voor mij). PDF's openen.

same. wat alleen wel kut is, is dat je dan geen previews meer hebt in explorer. dan kun je evt powertoys installeren en daarmee pdf previews aanvinken maar die is zoooooooooo tergend laaaaaangzaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmm... dus als iemand nog wat beters weet, gaarne ;)

Heb je met Foxit dan wel previews? Ik gebruik nu Adobe (acrobat?) en heb dan geen previews.

Sumatra is bij mij ook de nummer 1 om pdf bestanden te lezen.

Zeer snel en klein van omvang.
