Software-update: BearShare 4.7.0 beta 2

Na een lange reeks van bèta's uit de 4.6.0-serie heeft BearShare Labs zijn bestandsuitwisselingsprogramma BearShare bijgewerkt naar 4.7.0. Inmiddels is uit deze serie de tweede bèta beschikbaar gekomen. Met dit programma kunnen bestanden worden gedeeld via het Gnutella-netwerk. Dit netwerk wordt ook door diverse andere programma's gebruikt en het aanbod is dan ook zeer groot. Zoals gebruikelijk met de bèta's van dit programma werkt het slechts voor twee weken waarna een nieuwere versie zal moeten worden opgehaald. Het changelog van deze release ziet er als volgt uit:

• Improvement of tiger chunk verification thread throttling
• Hide GDownload, GUpload and GDownloadStream from memory report.

Met Adware is in principe niets mis

BearShare does not contain any spyware. However, BearShares does come bundled with some adware. This is harmless to you and your computer, it is used to display a few adverts while you surf and the only information collected is the information you supply during installation. If you do not like the adware that comes bundled with BearShare then you can purchase a subscription to the Pro version which does not contain any third party software.

Meestal surf ik niet in een P2P programma. Betekent dit dat er reclame in je browser word geinstalleerd? Dat vind ik dan geen harmless adware.

Ja of je download een gratis programma zonder spyware. Zoals Emule of als je gnutella wil Shareaza.

Kan iemand mij vertellen wat de grootste verschillen zijn tussen BearShare en Emule?

Bearshare zit op het gnutella netwerk en Emule zit op het eDonkey2000 netwerk. Bearshare is shareware en Emule is gratis en opensource zonder spyware. Emule zit op een veel groter netwerk. Shareaza kan ook op Gnutella en heeft ook ondersteuning voor Gnutella2 een verbeterd netwerk tegenover gnutella.
