Software-update: LibreOffice 25.2.2

De Document Foundation heeft versie 25.2.2 van LibreOffice uitgebracht. Dit opensource officepakket wordt geleverd met tekstverwerker Writer, spreadsheetprogramma Calc, presentatieprogramma Impress, tekenprogramma Draw, databaseprogramma Base en Formula, een applicatie om wetenschappelijke notaties mee te maken. Uitgebreide informatie over de veranderingen in versie 25.2 kunnen op deze pagina worden gevonden. Versie 25.2.2 is een zogenaamde bugfixuitgave en kende twee releasecandidates, waarin in totaal 83 verbeteringen zijn aangebracht

Libre Office of OnlyOffice zijn het meest geschikt.

OnlyOffice lijkt qua werking het meest op Microsoft Office, is net als Libre Office ook opensource en gratis en komt uit Engeland.

Mijn korte antwoord: LibreOffice.

Het is maar net wat je 'goed' vind. Wat is jouw gebruik van msOffice? Wat gebruik je wel, wat gebruik je niet. Enneh, wat beschouw je als Europees? Bedenk dat Moskou geografisch gezien in Europa ligt maar Russische software word niet echt meer gewaardeerd.
Zoek je gewoon een tekstverwerker en een spreadsheet? Of heb je ook een email client, agenda tool en samenwerk-software nodig? Voor sommige msOffice gebruikers is outlook een heilig onderdeel dat niet mag ontbreken. Daar is geen kruid tegen gewassen.

Voor degene die dark mode gebruiken (gekozen of systeem instelling) en een donker document (Calc, Writer, Draw, Impress) ervaren, hier de manier om dat te veranderen (in het Engels):

• Open LibreOffice
• Tools → Options
• LibreOffice → Appearence
• Rechts onder Options staat de Appearance keuze
• Daaronder bij Customizations kan je bij Items middels Document Background de kleur kiezen, zet die op wit.

Enige probleem dat ik met de darkmode van Libre Office heb is dat documenten die in windows gemaakt zijn de tekstkleur zwart hebben... Word zelf lijkt dit automatisch invert weer te geven en helaas doet Libre Office dit niet

Dan kun je toch de ochtergrond op wit instellen, ik vind dat zelf ook prettiger werken;

Natuurlijk niet. Wat is dan de functie van darkmode?

Darkmode doet precies wat het aangeeft te doen. Hoewel ik met je eens ben dat het fijn kan zijn dat text in Darkmode automatisch transleert naar leesbare tekst, dus een kleur kiest die voor gebruiker zichtbaar is, maar wordt dan de pagina ook anders weergegeven dan deze wellicht bedoeld is. Kleur vervangen is misschien dus ook niet (atltijd) ideaal; voor tekst die op kleur "auto" staat is het logisch dat deze zwarte tekst op een witte achtergrond toont en witte tekst op een zwarete achtergrond, maar als je zwarte/donkere tekst wit toont terwij je verwacht data deze donker afdrukt dan moet je eea nog steeds controleren. Hiermee haal je dus ook het WYSIWYG principe onderuit, of moet je de gebruiker visueel tonen dat deze mode uit staat. Zelfde geld een opmaakt in Darkmode die dan in Lightmode kleuren moet gaan omzetten.

Dat probleem geldt voor Word ook.
En als het dan gaat om leesbaar en afdrukken komen er Veel meer problemen om de hoek kijken.

Ja, klopt dat probleem heb je in Word ook. Dus eens dat het een mooie optie is om kleurtranslatie toe te passen, maar dwingt gebruiker wel om hier op gepaste wijze mee om te gaan. Hieromtrend was onlangs wat discussie binnen LO/CODE maar kan dat zo snel niet terugvinden, zal eens kijken wat ze hiermee van plan zijn te gaan doen.

ONLYOFFICE (gek genoeg geschreven met alleen hoofdletters!) ziet er gelikt uit, is ook gratis en doet in principe ook gewoon wat het moet doen. Maar onthoud wel: van alle alternatieve kantoorpakketten die beschikbaar zijn is LibreOffice, ondanks dat het voor sommigen minder "appealing" uitziet, wel het allerbeste alternatief. Ik spreek uit ervaring.

Zo gek is het ook niet als je je bedenkt dat alle andere alternatieve kantoorpakketten claimen dat zij "de beste uitwisselbaarheid hebben qua documenten", zij geen enkele voorsprong hebben op diezelfde LibreOffice. Immers: ze hebben te maken met het deels binaire (en dus gesloten) nepstandaard OOXML, waarbij zij allemaal dus zelf moeten coden om zoveel als mogelijk de uitwisselbaarheid van MS Office documenten te benaderen. LibreOffice slaagt daar - is mijn ervaring - daar nog het beste in. Juist omdat ze daar ook constant aandacht aan besteden. En om die uitwisselbaarheid zo maximaal te maken is het wel zaak om je aan bepaalde regels te houden. Bijvoorbeeld met tekstverwerken, waarbij je - als je je document uitwisselt met MS Word, je zoveel als mogelijk moet kiezen voor een lettertype die ook voorkomt in MS Word. Maak je je opmaak gewoon netjes met stijlen (dus niet tabben en spaties gebruiken om alles uit te lijnen!), dan ziet een Writer-document in MS Word er precies zo uit zoals je dat ook bedoelde onder LibreOffice.

En nu komt het: Microsoft beweert volledig ODF te ondersteunen. Sla voor de gein eens een door jou gemaakt LibreOffice Writer-document op in .odt, open dit vervolgens in MS Word (dat gaat goed!), en druk vervolgens dan, ZONDER iets te wijzigen op "Opslaan". En open dat opnieuw in MS Word. Dan zie je hoe SLECHT MS Office met OpenDocument-formaten. Ze voldoen rudimentair aan de eis om ODF te ondersteunen, maar verbeteren onder hun eigen software: ho maar! En waarom zouden ze ook? Ze willen iedereen binnenboord houden. Microsoft zal dan ook NOOIT en te nimmer hun eigen nepstandaard OOXML opgeven. Want als dat gebeurt, dan zullen héél veel mensen een ander kantoorpakket gaan gebruiken.

Vergis je niet: ik vind MS Office op onderdelen een prima product (dat heeft MS goed gedaan!). Maar ik houd er niet van dat ik in een ecosysteem verplicht gedrukt wordt. Nu ben ik handig genoeg om dat allemaal te ontwijken, en gelukkig doet LibreOffice zijn werk fantastisch. Ik werk al jaren met LibreOffice, ook voor mijn werk. Niemand ziet het dat ik mijn documenten, op mijn werk altijd geopend met MS Office, eigenlijk in LO heb gemaakt.

En vooral: documenten die niet door de ontvanger bewerkt hoeft te worden, die stuur je gewoon je document op in PDF. Easy does it!

Dat LibreOffice een afsplitsing is dat weten we nu onderhand wel.
Verder is het een fijn pakket al werk nu momenteel met OnlyOffice maar is gewoon om uit te proberen
