Hermanvh heeft de 1.27-firmware van de HP 420i dvd-brander naar eigen inzicht aangepast en online gezet als versie 1.07v2 beta 4. Hij laat het volgende achter in de submit: "Deze firmware biedt de mogelijkheid om verschillende media op hogere snelheid te branden. Tevens wordt de mogelijkheid geboden om DVD+R(W) met een ander booktype (DVD-R(W), DVD-ROM) te branden, zodat er een hogere compatibiliteit behaald kan worden met (oudere)(standalone) spelers." Deze release is beschikbaar voor zowel Windows als DOS. De volgende veranderingen zijn van toepassing op 1.07v2 beta 4:
