Na bijna anderhalf jaar van stilte is versie 2.12.0 van HexChat uitgekomen. HexChat is een opensource irc-client met downloads voor Windows, Linux en OS X. HexChat is ooit begonnen als XChat-WDK, een Windows-versie van XChat. Nadat de ontwikkeling van de originele XChat stil kwam te liggen, is XChat-WDK ook een Linux- en later een OS X-versie gaan maken en is de naam naar HexChat veranderd.
