Met als codename Mallard, hebben de makers van SmoothWall een nieuwe release in omloop gebracht. In betaversie 4 zijn onder andere Linux-kernel 2.4.19, het ext3 bestandssysteem en een nieuwe user interface toegevoegd. Specifications include: 2.4.19 kernel (as of beta0), new user interface (beta0), ext3 filesystem (beta0), iptables (beta0), increased support for USB ADSL devices, including Thomson/Alcatel Speedtouch, U.S. Robotics SureConnect and Fujitsu/Westell (ECI chipset devices) (much improved in beta4).
This beta release, beta4, is quite important in that we are now approaching final build status. We'd like as many people to test this as possible, especially those with ECI chipset USB ADSL modems, such as Zoom, Eicon Diva, Solwise SAR100/EA100, and Xentrix.
