Software-update: Patch My PC 3.0.0.7

Versie 3.0.0.7 van Patch My PC is uitgekomen. Dit programma kan controleren of de laatste versies van een groot aantal programma's – waaronder Mozilla Firefox, Java, iTunes, Skype en Adobe Flash – zijn geïnstalleerd. Daarnaast kan het zien welke Windows Updates nog op het systeem ontbreken en welke programma's met Windows meestarten, en kan het ten slotte programma's verwijderen. Daarmee is Patch My PC vergelijkbaar met programma's als Personal Software Inspector van Secunia en SUMo van KC Softwares.

Het programma zelf is slechts een halve megabyte groot en hoeft niet te worden geïnstalleerd om zijn werk te kunnen doen. De gebruiker kan zelf aangeven welke updates geïnstalleerd of overgeslagen moeten worden en vervolgens wordt alles met één muisklik opgehaald en geïnstalleerd. Ook kan de taal van de installatie worden opgegeven. Sinds versie 3.0.0.3 zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen aangebracht:

  • If the exported PatchMyPC.settings file is in the same folder as PatchMyPC.exe, the settings will auto import when run. This will allow you to keep settings easily when running on multiple machines the a USB or network drive!
• Fixed an issue where Flash Player Plugin may not be detected as installed

Hopelijk is het probleem met de Nederlandse Firefox nu ook opgelost! Ik kreeg steeds een Zweedse taal

Het grootste probleem is dat alles met de default waarden wordt geïnstalleerd. Dus iconen etc op je desktop en sommige settings die je had verdwijnen.

When you choose “Don’t Update These Apps” in the option menu the application you select will now become read only in the applications list in the left panel
The “Apps to Install” and “Apps to Update” will now increment after each update is install and won’t wait till the end of the update process
Removed the following applications due to their installers install bloat ware during a silent install
Speccy (May install Google Chrome / Google Toolbar)
PowerISO (Would place a SP-Downoader.exe in the temp directory)
This file appears to be associated with Bloat Ware although the installer doesn’t install the file we are removing PowerISO

Hoe verhouden dit programma, PSI en SUMo zich tot elkaar?
Is er een duidelijk beter?
Tot nu toe gebruik ik altijd PSI maar merk dat deze veel open source programma's niet meepakt.
