Versie 4.4.1 van Maxthon is uitgekomen. Deze webbrowser maakt gebruik van de Trident- of WebKit-engine om webpagina's weer te geven, maar heeft een eigen interface met allerlei extra functionaliteit, waaronder muisgebaren en onlinebookmarks. Standaard wordt de door Apple Safari en Google Chrome gebruikte WebKit-engine gebruikt om pagina's te renderen, maar ondersteuning voor de Trident-engine van Internet Explorer is ook aanwezig. Er kan eenvoudig tussen beide engines worden gewisseld.
De belangrijkste verandering in versie 4.2.0 is dat er nu van de Blink-core gebruikgemaakt wordt. Deze afsplitsing en versimpeling van de WebCore-component uit WebKit, die onder andere door Google Chrome vanaf versie 28 en door Opera vanaf versie 15 wordt gebruikt, belooft onder meer betere prestaties. Sinds versie 4.4.0 zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen aangebracht:
