Afgelopen vrijdag is er zoals gebruikelijk weer een nieuwe versie van Calibre verschenen. Calibre is een opensource- en crossplatform-e-bookbeheerprogramma. Het kan onder andere e-boeken van en naar readers kopiëren en ze converteren om ze geschikt te maken voor de diverse soorten e-readers. Verder kan het kranten, tijdschriften en nieuwsartikelen op basis van rss-feeds omzetten naar e-bookformaat, en er kunnen boeken worden aangeschaft bij de bekende webwinkels. In deze release is onder andere ondersteuning voor de Nexus 7 en Kindle Fire HD toegevoegd.

Calibre can now detect and connect to devices that do not present themselves as USB disks to the operating system. Newer Android devices all use the 'MTP' protocol when connected via USB. calibre now supports devices using this protocol on both Windows (Vista and newer) and Linux.- Calibre Portable: Create a new installer that does not require manually unzipping the Calibre Portable folder. Instead just run the installer and point it to the location you want to install to.
- Calibre Portable: Add support for multiple libraries created inside the 'Calibre Portable' folder.
- In the main book list when editing a blank published date, use a default value of Jan 2000 so that changing the date it easier
- Template language: Add function approximate_formats() to get list of formats saved in the db for a book as opposed to the formats that actually exist on disk
