RAR Labs heeft de derde bètarelease van versie 4.20 van zijn archiveringsprogramma's RAR en WinRAR uitgebracht. De populaire compressietool is beschikbaar voor diverse besturingssystemen, waaronder Windows, Linux en Mac OS X. Het programma kan overweg met de meest gangbare formaten - waaronder rar, zip, cab, arj, lzh, tar, gz, ace, uue, bz2, jar, iso, 7z en z - heeft een skinnable interface en ondersteuning voor Zip64 en multivolume-cab-bestanden. In versie 4.20 zijn onder andere aanpassingen in het compressiealgoritme gemaakt. Hierdoor is het over het algemeen sneller, maar is het geheugengebruik wel flink toegenomen. Verder kan er nu ook in 7-zip-archiefbestanden worden gezocht, maar is ondersteuning voor Windows 2000 komen te vervallen. Het changelog van deze release is hieronder t evinden.
Changes in version 4.20 beta 3
- "Estimate" function in WinRAR "Info" command is adjusted to faster WinRAR 4.20 compression when calculating the expected compression time.
- GUI SFX module -sp switch passes parameters to setup application only if no other parameters were specified in "Setup" command in SFX script. So "Setup" command has a higher priority than -sp.
Regardless of -sp presence, setup application can read the full SFX command line from sfxcmd environment variable.- "Save current settings" button in "Advanced SFX options" dialog is now available only when converting an existing archive to SFX. Options saved with this button are applied only to convert to SFX operation.
If you create or update SFX archive, only SFX options stored in default compression profile are used. Options saved in "Advanced SFX options" dialog are ignored for these operations.
