Software-update: Sandboxie 3.64

Versie 3.64 van Sandboxie is uitgekomen. Met dit programma is het mogelijk om onder Windows andere programma's in een afgeschermde omgeving te laten draaien. Op die manier zijn wijzigingen die door programma's als Internet Explorer worden uitgevoerd eenvoudig ongedaan te maken. Bovendien is er geen risico dat belangrijke onderdelen van het besturingssysteem worden aangetast. Sandboxie kan worden gebruikt op Windows 2000 en hoger; een levenslange licentie kost 34,50 euro. In deze release zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen aangebracht:

Usability improvements in Sandboxie components

• Sandboxie Start menu loads more quickly; programs installed into the sandbox appear in a separate group in the menu.
• Shortcut links to programs in the sandbox are created with the proper icon and description.
• Fixed "Recovery to Any Folder" to behave the same way in the Quick Recovery window and in the Files and Folders View.
• New "cut to clipboard" feature in the Quick Recovery window and in the Files and Folders View.
• New "User Accounts" feature in Sandbox Settings can restrict use of the sandbox to specific user accounts.

Improvements for programs running under the control of Sandboxie

• Programs can re-establish a connection to a disconnected network share.
• Programs can be allowed to set up exceptions in the firewall (see Sandbox Settings > Restrictions > Hardware Access).
• Fixed a problem which caused Outlook under Sandboxie to lock up when accessing a digital certificate.
• Fixed an issue where Adobe Acrobat Reader would occasionally asked to check for updates.

Improved compatibility with other software

• Security software: COMODO Internet Security, Dr.Web Security Space, G Data Internet Security suite, Kaspersky, Microsoft Security Essentials,
• Browser utilities: AdFender, Folder Size, Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer, Logitech Scroll App, Nitro PDF v6 and v7, Sticky Password.
• Windows XP: Fixed a conflict with update KB2633171 which caused error message SBIE2304 to appear in some systems.

Dit blijft voor mij nog steeds _de_ tool bij uitstek om programma's te controleren of simpelweg als trial te draaien. Installeren in de sandbox, en proberen. Bevalt het? Dan gewoon installeren. Zo niet, sandbox leeg maken, en de boel is weer schoon. VMs zijn weliswaar uitgebreider, maar juist door de eenvoud in gebruik en de zeer lage overhead is dit een geweldige tool.

Inderdaad dit blijft een fijn programma om mee te werken

Het is een knap stukje software.

Maar het heeft toch nog een hoop fouten en volgens mij zijn dat fouten die niet eens heel moeilijk zijn op te lossen.

Fouten, die pas optreden wanneer je geautomatiseerd veel processen launched die gesandboxed moeten worden, wat de meeste gebruikers dus niet doen.

Ik hoop dat ze dat nog eens oplossen, net als die vreselijke hoeveelheid aan pop-ups die je alleen per type kunt aanvinken om ze niet meer te krijgen, in plaats van in een instellingen menu ze eenmalig allemaal te configureren.
