Calibre is een crossplatform en opensource e-book-managementprogramma, wat met een groot aantal soorten e-books en e-readers overweg kan. Het maakt het onder andere mogelijk om e-books te converteren tussen de diverse bestandsformaten om ze zo beschikbaar te maken voor alle platforms. Verder kan het ook nieuwsartikelen op basis van rss omzetten naar e-bookformaat en is er een viewer waarmee e-books op de computer kunnen worden gelezen. Elke vrijdag komt er een nieuwe versie uit en deze keer is dat 0.8.12. In deze release zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen aangebracht:
