AVG Technologies heeft dinsdag een nieuwe versie van AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition uitgebracht. Deze gratis versie van AVG's antivirusprogramma beschermt even goed tegen virussen, maar moet het in vergelijking met zijn betaalde broer, AVG Anti-Virus Pro, onder meer zonder rootkit- en webshieldbescherming stellen. Een andere beperking is dat het programma slechts in een klein aantal talen beschikbaar is, waaronder gelukkig wel het Nederlands. Daarnaast mag het natuurlijk niet in commerciële omgevingen worden gebruikt. In deze release zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen doorgevoerd:
