OpenWrt is een op Linux gebaseerde firmware die zijn werk kan doen op verschillende routers. Zo kan bijvoorbeeld een Linksys WRT54G of een Asus WL-500g helemaal naar eigen wens ingericht worden. De ontwikkelaars hebben versie 8.09.2 uitgebracht die onder de Kamikaze-serie valt. De bijbehorende aankondiging ziet er als volgt uit:

- security fixes for openswan, tiff, libpng, kernel, curl, gnutls, openssl and dnsmasq
Note: The brcm47xx still won't work for those of you needing broadcom wifi, stick to brcm-2.4. We will tell you when it does work.
