Softland heeft donderdag versie 4.2 van Backup4all uitgebracht. Met dit programma kan een backup worden gemaakt naar een andere locatie op de harde schijf, een netwerkdrive, een ftp-server (met ondersteuning voor ssl-versleuteling, proxyservers en passive mode), een cd of dvd, of een externe drive, zoals een usb-stick. De software is verkrijgbaar in de smaken Lite, Standaard en Professional, met prijzen tussen de 20 en 45 dollar. De onderlinge verschillen worden op deze pagina uitgebreid uit de doeken gedaan.
In versie 4.2 is onder andere ondersteuning voor unicode-bestandsnamen toegevoegd, kan er van systeemvariabelen gebruik worden gemaakt bij het definiëren van filters en is het mogelijk om een versievergelijking op bestanden te doen. Verder wordt een e-mail met het resultaat van de backup toch verzonden wanneer de bijlage te groot is, maar dan zonder de bijlage zelf. Het volledige changelog van deze release ziet er als volgt uit:

- Added message for mirror backups to FTP when splitting large files and there is not enough space in temp (Ftp allows files of max 2GB)
- Added notification if the CTM gets corrupted (ask user to reinstall application)
Fix:
- If the notification email has an attachment larger than the sending limit, only the email is sent (without attachment)
- Sources can be modified now even after selecting a Predefined Backup job (this way a backup job can be used as a "template" for future backup jobs)
- Various fixes for mirror backups (with zip) to removable drives and FTP
- In particular cases the .bkc got corrupted
