Ritlabs heeft donderdag versie 4.2.9 van zijn e-mailprogramma The Bat! uitgebracht. Het programma biedt ondersteuning voor meerdere pop3- en imap4-accounts en heeft een Bayesian spamfilter en uitgebreide zoek- en filtermogelijkheden. The Bat is verkrijgbaar in de smaken Home en Professional Edition, waarbij studenten en nonprofit-organisaties korting op de aanschafprijs krijgen. Thuisgebruikers moeten zoals gebruikelijk ook nog hun International Pack bijwerken. Het verschil tussen de Pro- en Home-edities wordt op deze pagina uit de doeken gedaan. Versie 4.2.9 is een zogenaamde maintenance release en bevat voornamelijk kleine veranderingen en verbeteringen. De volledige lijst sinds versie 4.2.4 ziet er als volgt uit:

- Macros that accept date format as the first parameter now can also accept the language as the second parameter. If the language is specified, the Windows formatting is using. The language can be specified for the following date macros: %DATE, %ODATE, %ORcvDate; the date is formatted according to this. Additionally, when formatting a date, you can use "L" format specifier to get DATE_LONGDATE. For specifying language in time formatting, you can use the following macros: %Time, %TimeLong, %OTime, %OTimeLong, %ORcvTime, %ORcvTimeLong, according to this.
