Microsoft heeft Windows Virtual PC 6.1.7084.0 bèta voor Windows 7 uitgebracht. Met Windows Virtual PC kun je een virtuele machine draaien binnen Windows 7 waarop Windows XP, Vista of 7 kan worden geïnstalleerd. Hierdoor zijn applicaties in hun eigen omgeving te draaien, bijvoorbeeld omdat een applicatie niet correct werkt onder Windows 7, maar zijn werk wel correct doet onder Windows XP.
