Software-update: Microsoft Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 RC

Voor het beheren van een Windows-omgeving kan je gebruikmaken van verschillende tools van Microsoft, die terug te vinden zijn op de aanwezige Windows-servers. Denk daar bij aan tools voor het beheren van active directory, dns, terminal services en IIS. Deze tools zijn standaard niet aanwezig op clientsystemen als Windows XP en Vista. Voor Windows XP is er een Administrations Tools Pack binnen te halen van Microsoft, ook wel 'Windows Server 2003 management tools' genoemd, waarmee je direct van af je werkstation de verschillende onderdelen op de aanwezige servers kon beheren.

Met de introductie van Windows Server 2008 is deze collectie hernoemd naar Remote Server Administration Tools die onder andere beschikbaar is voor Windows Vista. Nu met de uitgave van Windows 7 RC heeft Microsoft ook een Remote Server Administration Tools voor dit besturingssysteem met de volgende aankondiging uitgebracht:

What is RSAT

RSAT Client is the collection of Windows Server management tools which enable IT professionals to manage their Windows Server infrastructure from their PCs running Windows 7. RSAT Client is available to all customers as part of the supplemental Microsoft Software License Terms to Windows 7 licenses.

Paar dagen geleden al geinstalleerd op werk. Werkt best ok allemaal, alleen 203 clusters kun je niet beheren, of ik heb iets gemist.
Kan alleen 2008 aan...

voor verschillende serverversies is er een verschillende RSAT set, voor 2003 moet je dus even de 2003 versie binnenhalen

Er is maar 1 RSAT versie. Met deze versie kun je niet alle functies van 2003 beheren. Het kan dus inderdaad zo zijn dat 2003 cluster niet ondersteund wordt. Zal neem ik aan wel in de readme of de docu staan.

Een heel slecht advies, als je niet wilt dat andere computers 'onder jou advies' crashen!
Dus NOOIT de 2003 versie (AdminPak.msi) installeren op een:
- Windows Vista,
- Windows Server 2008(R2) of
- Windows Seven computer.
