OpenWrt is een op Linux gebaseerde firmware die zijn werk kan doen op verschillende routers. Zo kan bijvoorbeeld een Linksys WRT54G of een Asus WL-500g helemaal naar eigen wens ingericht worden. De ontwikkelaars hebben alweer even geleden versie 8.09 uitgebracht die onder de Kamikaze-serie valt. De bijbehorende aankondiging ziet er als volgt uit:
