Software-update: Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.5.1

Microsoft heeft weer een nieuwe update klaar staan voor zijn Office 2004-pakket voor het Mac OS X-platform. Het pakket bevat Word, de Excel, Powerpoint en Entourage, evenals een groot aantal wizards en tools om het verwerken van teksten, afbeeldingen en geluiden gemakkelijker te maken. De versieteller staat inmiddels op 11.5.1 en is voorzien van de volgende aankondiging:

Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.5.1 Update

This update contains several improvements to enhance stability and performance. In addition, this update includes fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer's memory with malicious code.

Microsoft has released security bulletins MS08-043 and MS08-051. These security bulletins contain all the relevant information about the security updates for Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac.

Improvements for all Office 2004 for Mac applications:

• Security is improved.
• Stability is improved when you open documents.

Improvements for Entourage 2004 for Mac:

• The Japanese postal code dictionary is updated.

Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.5.0 Update

This update contains several improvements to enhance stability and compatibility with documents that were created in Office 2008 for Mac and Office 2007 for Windows. If the Open XML File Format Converter for Mac is installed, this update enables Office 2004 for Mac to read and write Office documents that are in the Open XML Format.

Improvements for all Office 2004 for Mac applications:

• Compatibility is improved for documents that are in Open XML Format.
• The update installer now ignores backup copies of Office that were created by the Time Machine backup tool.

Improvements for Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac:

• Stability is improved.
• This update fixes several issues that cause Word 2004 to close unexpectedly.
  • For users of Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), this update fixes issues that cause Word 2004 to close unexpectedly during a typical operation.
  • For users of Office 2008 for Mac, this update also fixes an issue that causes Word 2004 to close unexpectedly when you paste content from a document that is generated by an Office 2008 application into a Word 2004 document.
  • For users of AppleScript, this update fixes an issue that causes Word 2004 to close unexpectedly when you run a script that contains the following syntax. "get properties of hyperlink of shape 1 of active document"
• The text display is improved when you change the size of table columns.
• The "Page Setup" dialog box now displays correctly.

Improvements for Microsoft Excel 2004 for Mac:

• Paper size is saved correctly.
• Reliability is improved when you paste content from Excel 2008 into Excel 2004.
• Stability is improved when you open a workbook that contains a shape, a SmartArt graphic, or a text box.
• You can now use the Open dialog box in Excel 2004 to select workbooks that were created in Excel 2007 for Windows.

Improvements for Microsoft PowerPoint 2004 for Mac:

• Reliability and stability are improved when you paste content from an Office 2008 application into PowerPoint 2004.
• Stability is improved when you open a very large PowerPoint presentation.

Wat ik niet snap is, waarom Microsoft Office 2004 voor de MAC Freeware is, en niet voor WINDOWS?

Duur pakketje...

Ik ben bang dat ik na de aanschaf van mijn 24" imac'je hier geen geld meer voor heb
Gelukkig komt openoffice 3.0 helemaal netjes in aqua op de Mac Desktop,
dan is er helemaal geen reden meer om dit product te kopen.

Is er een relevant verschil tussen NoeOffice en OpenOffice ?

Het kan natuurlijk een stuk goedkoper met de home en student versie van MS Office voor mac die je thuis op drie computers mag installeren en die maar 107 euro kost.

netjes dat ze dit onderhouden zelfs nu office 2008 uit is.
btw, bij surfspot kost office 2008 nu maar 10 eurie
home & student versie natuurlijk.

Het duurt echter nog steeds een dikke 20 seconden voordat Word op mijn Macbook Pro (2.16ghz) opstart terwijl mijn Mac voor de rest prima presteerd.

Update: oeps, dit gaat over de 2004 versie. Voor de mijne, versie 2008, is echter ook net een nieuwe update uit: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956344
Schijnt dat Word hiermee sneller opstart.

Word 2008 start iets sneller op maar het is nog steeds bedroevend.
