Bron: SILC Project

Version 1.1.3:

This bugfix release fixes some crashbugs, mainly the CTR mode rekey. Those running binary versions, please upgrade to SILC Toolkit 1.1.4 to get all the necessary fixes.

Summary of Changes:
  • CTR mode rekey fixes and other CTR mode fixes, coming from Toolkit.
  • Fixed "There are now xx nick's" string typo.
  • Many more fixes come from SILC Toolkit 1.1.4.
Version 1.1.2:

This bugfix release fixes some crashbugs. Those running binary versions, please upgrade to SILC Toolkit 1.1.2 to get all the necessary fixes.

Summary of Changes:
  • Fixed the new scheduelr handling to not stop at connecting on some platforms.
  • Many more fixes come from SILC Toolkit 1.1.2.
Version 1.1.1:

This maintenance release fixes over 20 bugs, most of them security fixes so upgrading is strong recommended. This release also includes a new scheduler handling in the client that is easier on the laptop batteries. Your client doesn't anymore drain your laptop batteries.

This version also removes the old --enable-silc-plugin option and introduces new --with-silc-plugin option. Please, read the README.PLUGIN if you want to compile SILC Plugin for Irssi, instead of the standlone SILC Client.

Summary of Changes:
  • Removed --enable-silc-plugin. Added --with-silc-plugin
  • Fixed crash in /UPGRADE
  • Fixed crash in /QUIT while transferring a file
  • Fixed /ATTR crash dealing with MIME messages
  • Fixed connecting timeout crashes
  • Fixed signed message receive crashbug
  • Fixed silc -C crashbug
  • Added optimized scheduler handling.
  • Many other fixes and changes.
Version 1.1:

Please enjoy this SILC Client 1.1 release. The SILC Client 1.1 includes almost entirely rewritten client library based on the SILC Toolkit 1.1. It brings better performance, lots of bugfixes and some new features. The SILC Client also contains an entirely new Irssi base, based on the Irssi 0.8.11.

The SILC Plugin for Irssi is now included by default in the SILC Client package. You can compile either the standalone client or the plugin for Irssi. Read the README.PLUGIN for instructions on how to compile the SILC Plugin.

An RPM spec file is also included in the tar-package by default enabling you to compile your own RPM's directly from the source package, if you wish.

I want to thank everyone who were active during the beta stage and reported problems and bugs. I especially want to thank Juha Räsänen for testing and reporting problems from the very first alpha version.

Summary of Changes:
  • New Irssi base, the Irssi 0.8.11.
  • Based on the new SILC Toolkit 1.1.
  • Rewritten client library, faster and smaller, tons of bugs fixed.
  • Rewritten key agreement support, with UDP/IP support in addition to the TCP/IP.
  • Rewritten file transfer support, making it more robust and reliable.
  • Rewritten nickname formatting. Client now automatically detects and chooses most optimal nickname format.
  • Formatted nickname hints when sending private messages. The client now tells you if you are sending to nickname that doesn't exist, whether you meant to send to one of the formatted nicknames instead. Makes it harder to send private messages to wrong people when there any many people with same nicknames.
  • Show real name and email address from public key when accepting and verifying public keys. Makes it harder to verify public keys from wrong people.
  • Partial support for upcoming SILC Protocol version 1.3
  • Partial support for SILC Public Key version 2.
  • Fixed all known issues from 1.0.
  • Myriad of other fixes and changes.
