Gizmo is een programma dat vergeleken kan worden met het welbekende Skype. Maar in tegenstelling tot Skype is Gizmo gebaseerd op een open standaard, namelijk SIP. Je kan hiermee gratis een gesprek starten met andere gebruikers van Gizmo of tegen betaling bellen naar en gebeld worden vanaf een normale telefoon. Elke Gizmo lid krijgt bovendien een SIP-nummer waarmee je bereikbaar bent voor andere SIP-gebaseerde programma's. Voor meer informatie over dit programma verwijzen we jullie door naar deze pagina. De ontwikkelaars hebben een drietal nieuwe versies uitgebracht voor Linux (3.0.1.70), Mac OS X (3.1.1.220) en Windows (3.1.1.284):

- Fixed a bug that caused some new contacts to now appear in the contact list is rare cases.
- Core Fix: Escape '%' when dialing a jabber id as a SIP uri. Needed for dialing meta-im contacts.
