Firmware-update: Logitech G5 Laser Mouse 1.2

Ruim een jaar na dato komt Logitech met een nieuwe firmware voor de populaire Logitech G5-lasermuis. Deze muis is voornamelijk gemaakt voor gamers en versie 1.2 van de firmware zorgt er dan ook weer voor dat de nauwkeurigheid en snelheid iets verbeterd zijn, wat cruciaal is tijdens het gamen. De installatieprocedure is niet veranderd ten opzichte van de vorige keer:

Updating your Logitech® G5 Laser Mouse´s firmware to track on more surfaces is easy and quick. To obtain the latest firmware, download the G5Update12.exe file. And follow the instructions:

1. Plug your mouse into the USB port on your computer.
2. Open the G5Update12.exe file.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions:
   1. If your mouse needs to be updated with the current firmware (version 1.2), the program will say "Found a G5 with firmware 1.1."
      • Click on the “Flash” Button
      • The program will then automatically prepare your mouse for the update and execute the update. This process takes less than 30 seconds. During this stage, it is critical that you do NOT unplug your mouse or quit the program
      • Once the update is complete, you will see a message asking you to unplug and re-plug your mouse
      • After you´ve plugged your mouse back in, choose “Exit” to close the update program
   2. If your mouse already has the current version 1.2 firmware, the program will say "Found a G5 with Firmware version 1.2" — there is no need to update your mouse. Just click on the Exit button to exit the program.

Your updated Logitech® G5 Laser Mouse is now ready for use.

Note: Some dialogs and warning message may appear during the updating process and should be ignored. They do not represent a failure of the updating process. Disregard these messages and continue to follow the on-screen instructions provided within G5Update1.1.exe.

Anticipated messages include:

• “Found New Hardware: A problem occurred during hardware installation. Your new hardware might not work properly.”
• “USB Device not recognized: One of the USB devices connected to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.”

Note: The 64-bit version of Windows® XP does not support this update. If you are using a 64-bit version of Windows® XP, please contact Logitech´s Customer Support for further guidance.[break]

De XP installatie werkt niet onder Vista (resulteert in een vastloper).

edit: als je compatibiliteitsmode WindowsXP kiest, flasht hij wel goed onder Vista

De nieuwe firmware werkt prima bij mij.
Merk overigens geen verschil met 1.1 firmware.
Helaas geen merkbare verbetering in processorbelasting.

Ik merk wél een verandering. Namelijk toen ik nog Firmware 1.1 had, dat als ik me scrollwiel een klein beetje bewoog hij gelijk een scroll pakte zeg maar. Nu met 1.2 is dat niet meer zo, stuk fijner vind ik.

Tip: Zet je firewall (zonealarm) uit!

Ik lees hier net dat ik me muis kan upgraden, ff tool gedownload alles volgens het stappenplan. Ik geef het flashcommando. Muis gaat uit, komt zonealarm met een melding met 2 leuke aanvinkboxjes, mag dit? :S:S:S. Zie dat maar eens met een gedeactiveerde muis aan te klikken . Computer, gereset. Muis deed het niet, glukkig een backupmuis bij de hand (Leve de backupmuis!) opnieuw met de firewall uit. En Yes het is gelukt .

Das dan weer een nadeel van zo'n perfect simpel flashproggie, je vergeet snel dat flashen met veel aandacht moet gebeuren, niet zomaar ff tussendoor.

Het lijkt me sterk dat Zonealarm niet met toetsenbord te bedienen is...

Met Tab, Space en Enter kom je een heel eind hoor...

Zo heb ik dit ook opgelost. Ik kreeg wel zo'n venstertje van 'er is nieuwe hardware gevonden' over dat zonealarm ding heen Dus ik kon niet echt zien wat er gefocust was, maargoed.. het is gelukt..

Rechtermuisknop op ZoneAlarm ==> Game Mode ==> Answer always wit allow

Weer geen x64 om zelf te downloaden?
Ik moet even zeggen dat ik het x64 aanbod zwaar vind tegenvallen. Waarom heeft Logitech niet gewoon alle downloads?

Gelukkig is dit een eenmalige update en geen driver. Heb de mijne net geflasht op een 32 bit systeem en hij werkt nu wel gewoon onder 64 bit na de update.

flashen gaat in ieder geval lekker snel en zonder reboot. Heb slechtere flashes meegemaakt.

Alleen wat er nieuw aan is kan ik zo ook 1,2,3 niet vertellen/voelen

Werkt hier prima op windows xp.

Hopelijk zijn de problemen die ik had hiermee opgelost.

Ik denk dat je dat eerder bij SetPoint moet zoeken dan bij de Firmware.
