Zojuist is versie 1.57 van Xfire uitgekomen. Dit programma is bedoeld voor fanatieke gamers en stelt hen in staat te chatten met anderen, zowel binnen als buiten spellen, kan men eenvoudig in welk spel de mensen op de contactlijst aan het spelen zijn en kan men zichzelf vervolgens eenvoudig aan dat spel toevoegen. Ook kan Xfire helpen bij het vinden van een snelle gameserver met nog vrije plaatsen, kunnen gamepatches en demo's via een eigen P2P-netwerk worden binnengehaald en is er de mogelijkheid tot voicechat. Op dit moment worden er meer dan 550 spellen ondersteund, waarvan 157 'one-click join' en 339 'in-game chat' ondersteunen. Het changelog van deze release ziet er als volgt uit:

- Added the option in Tools | Options | Chat to increase or decrease the text size in chat windows and the main list view.
- Added a context menu item on the Friends list view to view chat log.
- Added the ability to preload most of a file before its official release time, and then complete it after it is officially available in the download system. We will be testing this soon.
- Continued improving the game stats in Quake 3 from client game logs. To see them, play Quake 3 and then check out your profile page.
- Improved the DirectDraw handler for Xfire In-Game to be able to add more DirectDraw games in future releases.

- Fixed a problem when you create a group of friends with a name that is too long.
- Fixed a scrolling problem with new chat windows created from conversations started while playing a game.
- Fixed detection of Everquest, Gunz: The Duel, and all other games using PlayingDetectType=ByWindow.
- Fixed game icons for games added in game updates.
- Fixed a problem with auto-AFK when xfire_toucan.dll did not load properly.
- Fixed numerous small interface bugs with user to user file transfers.
