Xfire is voorzien van een update naar versie 1.54. Dit programma is bedoeld voor fanatieke gamers en stelt hen in staat te chatten met anderen, zowel binnen als buiten spellen, kan men eenvoudig in welk spel de mensen op de contactlijst aan het spelen zijn en kan men zichzelf vervolgens eenvoudig aan dat spel toevoegen. Ook kan Xfire helpen bij het vinden van een snelle gameserver met nog vrije plaatsen, kunnen gamepatches en demo's via een eigen P2P-netwerk worden binnengehaald en is er de mogelijkheid tot voicechat. Op dit moment worden er meer dan 550 spellen ondersteund, waarvan 155 'one-click join' en 317 'in-game chat' ondersteunen. Deze release voegt onder andere ondersteuning toe voor spellen als The Elder Scrolls - Oblivion, The Godfather en de complete Myst-serie. Het volledige changelog ziet er als volgt uit:

- Improved the dialog that is displayed after you take a screenshot in game with Scroll Lock + S and then leave the game.
- Improved Xfire's startup time when you have numerous screenshots saved.
- Changed the name of new screenshot files to include the abbreviated game name and the date/time that the screenshot was taken.
- Improved the look and performance of the Battlefield 2 infoview and the Display Ranks button.
- Improved game lobbies from group chat rooms to give more feedback about the game status.

- Changed persistent group chat rooms to be stored in our database. This means you can access your persistent group chats from multiple machines more easily.
- Improved the speed at which you can login right after we perform a mandatory update (cross your fingers!).
- Fixed a few bugs with saving the order of custom groups.
- Fixed the Tools | Options | Games tab to work properly for some Steam games.
- Fixed a lot of small bugs in the voice system.
- Fixed a problem with direct friend file transfers that could interrupt you in a game. Also fixed some crashes with direct friend file transfers.
- Fixed Xfire In-Game for Age of Empires III after changing resolutions.
- Fixed Xfire In-Game for Guild Wars (this awesome game switched to Direct3D 9).
- Updated the Help | About dialog.
- Fixed a bug with setting your voice activation key in the Tools | Options | Voice dialog and then changing tabs.
