Max is een applicatie voor het Mac OS X-platform waarmee je in staat bent om een muziekcd om te zetten naar audiobestanden met een mp3-, flac- of Ogg Vorbis-indeling. Het gebruikt onder andere de encoders LAME, libVorbis, libFLAC en Core Audio voor het comprimeren van de muziek en het kan met behulp van FreeDB de artiest en titels alvast voor je invullen. Stephen F. Booth heeft versie 0.5 de deur uitgedaan met de volgende aanpassingen:

- iTunes still displays numbers instead of strings for genres (due to mishandling of ID3v2.4 tags)
- Not all output formats are tagged with metadata
