Het Noorse bedrijf Opera Software heeft een nieuwe versie van hun webverkenner Opera naar buiten gebracht en hier het versienummer 8.02 aan meegegeven. Ondersteuning voor het BitTorrent-protocol dat in de vorige technical preview werd toegevoegd is niet aanwezig in deze versie. Het programma heeft onder meer tabbed browsing, een popup blocker en een e-mailmodule met een uitgebreide spamfilter. De release notes en het changelog zien er als volgt uit:
Opera Software today released the second upgrade to Opera 8. The new version, Opera 8.02, is available for Windows, Linux and Macintosh and includes security upgrades and smaller bug fixes. Opera 8.02 does not include support for the BitTorrent protocol, which was launched on July 7, 2005 in a Technical Preview of the Opera browser. BitTorrent was well-received by the market and the protocol is under consideration for a subsequent product release.
