In practice, with 27" monitors, universal triple mounts reach their mechanical limit. As you’ve indicated that no further inward adjustment is possible, this confirms that your setup is operating at that limit. Under these conditions, a difference in viewing distance between the center and outer screens (such as the ~10 cm you observed) is expected and cannot be fully eliminated within this type of configuration.

 

Regarding viewing distance, while general ergonomic guidelines often reference 60–75 cm, recommendations can vary depending on resolution and use case. For example, BenQ advises that a 27" QHD monitor is optimally viewed from approximately 80–100 cm to ensure the full field of view is comfortable and to reduce eye and head movement.

At these larger viewing distances, the required curvature of a triple 27" setup becomes less pronounced. However, even in that scenario, maintaining equal distance across all three screens still requires more inward angle than our triple monitor arm can typically provide at this screen size.

 

As a reference, achieving a ~60 cm viewing distance typically places the center of the screen at approximately 48–55 cm from the back of the desk, depending on seating position. Greater viewing distances naturally require more desk depth or the ability to position the screens further back.

 

Desk depth can therefore be a contributing factor in achieving an optimal setup, but in your case the primary constraint remains the limited achievable inward angle for monitors of this width.

If a higher degree of positional precision is required, a setup using independent monitor arms per screen would provide greater flexibility. This allows each monitor to be positioned individually, making it possible to create a tighter and more consistent curvature.
